Spoke Chair - 2009
There was a time early in my design journey when I devoted many hours outside of work to personal projects. These explorations deepened my understanding of woodworking and led me to gradually invest in a modest workshop, an environment where I could test my ideas and bring them to fruition.
The chair's overall silhouette is influenced by Jean Prouvé's Antony Chair, renowned for its combination of bent plywood and industrial metal elements. By unconventionally arranging the structural components, I aimed to maximize the efficient use of locally sourced Ash, emphasizing both material integrity and sustainability. The open, sculptural frame encourages an interplay of light and shadow, allowing the chair's construction to be revealed with clarity and curiosity.
