Code Media Console for BDI - 2018
This storage piece grew out of a collaboration with Al Glass, a graphic designer whose strength in two-dimensional composition brought a distinct perspective to the project. Together, we developed a media and storage console that combines graphic rhythm with the practical needs of home entertainment and storage.
The door fronts are made from vertical walnut strips set at varying depths, creating a dimensional grid across the cabinet face. Open spaces within the pattern add visual depth while also allowing ventilation, sound, and remote signals to pass through for audio/video equipment.
The finished piece reflects the idea behind the collaboration: using graphic composition as a functional part of the furniture. The staggered walnut strips give Code its depth and identity, while the open pattern allows the cabinet to support media equipment without exposing it.
